Export Assistance for NYS Businesses: With representatives around the world and programs offering exporting funding and assistance, the Global NY team at Empire State Development helps New York businesses enter or expand their presence in the global marketplace. Global NY programs connect companies with sales agents and distributors abroad and offset the costs of exporting with grants and loans. By participating in Global NY trade missions, New York businesses can create and reinforce global connections and partnerships. Global NY is committed to helping businesses sell their products and services in growing markets including Africa, Canada, China, Europe, India, Israel, Mexico, and South America. The Export Marketing Assistance Service (EMAS): is a New York State program designed to help businesses find sales agents or distributors abroad. Once accepted, Global NY’s international offices will provide local expertise for the markets you select, conduct customized research and identify potential partners for your company abroad. Global NY can assist your company with entering the following markets: Canada, China, Europe, Israel, Mexico, South America, and Africa; up to two markets can be selected per a 12-month period. Global NY State Trade Expansion Program (STEP): Empire State Development (ESD) is working in partnership with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to increase the number of small businesses that begin to export; increase the value of exports for small businesses that currently export; and increase the number of small businesses exploring significant new trade opportunities. Approved STEP funds can assist New York state businesses with: Participation in programmed foreign trade missions; Subscription to services provided by the Department of Commerce; Trade show exhibition (international and qualified domestic trade shows); Participation in export training workshops; Qualified foreign market sales trips; Website Content/Foreign Language Translation; Development of International Marketing Campaign(s); Virtual Services; and Compliance Testing. Global NY Grant Fund: The $35 million Global NY Fund provides grants and loans to help New York State’s small and medium-sized businesses go global and create new jobs. The Global NY Fund Grant Program is open to New York State companies and non-profit organizations seeking to create or expand direct exports. All export grants are awarded on a reimbursable basis. ESD is providing grants of up to $25,000 to help companies start exporting or increase their global exports. Grants of up to $100,000 are available to not-for-profit organizations that provide export assistance and trade education to New York State companies.
