We are hiring a Manager, Business Development to execute consistent business development motions, build qualified pipeline, progress opportunities through a structured sales process, and support predictable new revenue growth – working closely with IBT Online leadership.

Role overview

The Manager, Business Development is a hands-on, commercially focused leader responsible for opportunity creation, qualification, deal progression, and consistent pipeline hygiene. This role is ideal for an experienced consultative seller who thrives on disciplined execution, strong discovery, and measurable outcomes.

Primary services to sell (priority order):

  • Online marketing
  • Ecommerce
  • Websites and localization

How this role differs from VP, Business Development

This role is execution-focused and supports the broader commercial system led by the VP/leadership team:

  • Responsible for building and progressing opportunities; not accountable for overall GTM strategy.
  • Operates within established Sales + Marketing (“Smarketing”) processes and SLAs; provides feedback to improve them.
  • May support partner follow-through; does not own strategic partnership strategy.
  • Responsible for pipeline hygiene and stage progression; contributes inputs to forecasting and reporting.
  • Contributes to improving playbooks and talk tracks; does not own overall playbook/GTM architecture.

Key responsibilities

Pipeline creation and opportunity management

  • Build qualified opportunities aligned with our service priorities.
  • Execute consistent outbound motions (email, LinkedIn, targeted sequences, partner outreach).
  • Manage opportunities through stages: discovery → qualification → proposal → close.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline data and weekly updates for forecasting and leadership review.

Discovery and qualification discipline

  • Run structured discovery/needs assessments and identify the true buying drivers.
  • Qualify opportunities using budget, authority, need, timing, and fit.
  • Work with leadership to shape solution positioning, scope, and pricing for high-quality proposals.

Sales + Marketing alignment (“Smarketing”) execution

  • Work closely with Marketing to improve lead quality and conversion.
  • Follow and reinforce Sales–Marketing definitions, SLAs, and lifecycle stages.
  • Provide market feedback to improve messaging, offers, and campaign performance.

Client experience, integrity, and deal quality

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with prospects.
  • Ensure proposals reflect clear scope, realistic timelines, and strong delivery alignment.
  • Protect margin by preventing unclear scope and misaligned expectations.

Playbooks, messaging, and GTM discipline

  • Get to know and understand IBT Online’s existing playbooks, outbound frameworks, messaging/talk tracks, and go-to-market (GTM) processes – and then contribute to improving and operationalizing them as needed for consistent commercial success.

  • Comfort using CRM and sales engagement tools with high data accuracy.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent academic qualification).
  • Marketing and sales certifications (e.g., HubSpot, Google, Meta, Salesforce, consultative selling frameworks) – or willingness to complete relevant certifications early in role.

Preferred

  • Digital marketing agency experience (consultative selling strongly preferred).
  • Experience selling marketing, ecommerce, websites, and/or localization services.
